Happy Birthday to
Liv Ullmann
72 today
I wanted a picture of Liv that reflects the often fragile characters that she performed for Ingmar Bergmar over her 10 collaborations between 1966 (Persona) and 2003 (Saraband). It's a selection of films that fully marks her place in film history.

Ben, I am so happy to see your post on Liv Ullmann, a woman and performer I have admired for years. Since her heyday, when she appeared in both "The Emigrants/The New Land" and "Cries and Whispers" simultaneously, she lent a beauty and, yes, fragility to movie screens that I have missed lately. Did you hear her speech at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony last week? I fell in love with her all over again.
She was always a beaufitully measured performed, you've hit the nail on the head when you say she bought a fragility to the screen.
I must catch up with The Emigrants, I remember reading your review earlier this year and it really interested me.
I've just looked up her speech on youtube, fascinating to hear the words of Liu Xiaobo through her clear reading.
