Baby Jesus Freak

It's started. The London run of Ian Winterton's Baby Jesus Freak opened last night to a select (Um... very select) preview audience. They enjoyed it and the sister production of Stage Kiss (which is very funny but obviously I must support the play I'm in).

The pair are on from now until Good Friday (22 April) and tickets are available on the door or online via The Space website. I look forward to seeing you there.

Acting update

As surprising as this may sound but I have actually been working this week.

On Monday I was filming Fleeced, which is an actual feature film produced by Azra Productions. I say feature, at the moment it's really only a trailer. We've filmed rough cuts of the key scenes with the aim of flogging it to some studios and getting some names attached to the main parts. Of course there is a risk that once it goes to the nxt stage and once there are salaries that a name will steal my role, however I have quite a inconsequential part so maybe I'm safe.

It's a comic spin on films such as Reservoir Dogs and Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels which involves a bank heist from the most unlikely group of criminals; the lead is trying to go straight his best friend is a psychopath and their joined by an undercover cop, a Priest, a TV reporter, a sex fiend and a guy who drssed up like the Pink Pnather. The script is very very funny with a mix of Zucker brothers' slapstick and Alfie alike asides to the camera.

On Friday I recorded a Radio Play for the South Birmingham Community Radio - it wasn't paid but it was a lot of fun. The radio station can be found here, and it promises to be a really exciting venture for South Brum.

When it's finished airing (this afternoon) Post It will be available in the archives. For the record I play the welsh copper (although if the accent is rubbish that's not me at all).

Finally I also got a copy of Everything is OK, a short MA project I was involved in earlier this year. Once I've worked out how I'll try and get a copy online.

The Song Inside

The director of the Song Inside has given me a copy of the DVD. I'll try and cut out a section and post it later. Everyone stand by for a guy in a ill fitting jumper leafletting like crazy.

Secret Window

I've been sent a script for a short student film. Normally I'd say YES without giving it a second thought - after all it all builds up towards my showreel.

This time I'm not so sure.

I've included a scene after the jump - let me know whether I should do it in the comments.

And I don't want anyone quoting Walter Huston.

EXT. A HOUSE DAY (Kyle is seen sitting on a bench. He is in a very deep though. His friend, Harry appears - hurrying from a fast food shop)
HARRY Kyle is still brooding over the past? (*HE OPENS THE PAPER BAG) cheese bugger? (NO RESPONSE) sorry! I forgot. My friend don't like cheese bugger. (HE EATS. WITH A MOUTHFUL). Hey, there's a very bad news!
KYLE What?
HARRY I heard the police are searching for you. Dont tell me you got yourself involve in a mess again Kyle. I guess you should go surrender yourself.
KYLE So I could go to jail. What sort of a friend are you
HARRY Come on we all know this is not your first time of going to jail. Also you always seem to find your way out every time you go on a visit. Be a man,be a real man! (Kyle stares at harry, then stands up and walks away from him.)

Song Inside

You'll all be pleased to know that the Song Inside was a resounding success, I even had a very cute guy come and congratulate me on my performance in the bar (which let's face is a good enough reason to act in the first place!).

I also spent Friday filming a training video for the Nursing department at Birmingham City University. As ever if I get a copy I'll be putting it right here for you all to see.

Normal blogging will continue tomorrow when I am back into the swing of things.

Traffic cones and grief

I may have mentioned that I was pretty busy yesterday. In fact I was acting...

In the morning I did a short film for The Maclagen Men called Only a Space Away. Basically it's a love story between 2 traffic cones. I played a commuter desperately looking for a parking space, and got to wheelspin out of a praking space, which was fun. As soon as it's available on line (or I have a copy) I'll be showing it here.

In the afternoon it was rehearsing for The Song Inside. It's now only 2 days until it premiers and only 6 days until our public performance. I may have mentioned it before, but if not, please come along on Friday 11 July to King Edwards VI Five Ways School for an opportunity to see this superb show.

The Song Inside

If anyone's near Birmingham next Friday evening (11 July 2008) I urge you to come and see The Song Inside at King Edward VI Five ways school. It's a stunning new one-act play by Paul Merrill, produced by He's Spartacus.

Come and see it if only for a chance to see me bearing my soul.
