There's nothing like a good dose of showmanship to sell a film, not that Lars von Trier seemed to need his usual controversy seeking methods to get the crowds enthused about this end of the world drama. Kirsten Dunst and Charlotte Gainsbourg star as two sisters reacting in extremes ways to their impending doom, elegant and measured it received rave reviews in Cannes and won Kiki best actress. The trailer certainly gives the impression this is one to watch.
Melancholia is released on 30 September 2011.

Wow..this looks intriguing.. This film needs to tread a fine line to avoid slipping into self-parody..."The Burning Bush of Life"?
I like Kristen Dunst..I fear that Lars von Trier's "style" will get in the way..I was distracted by his camera even during the trailer.. But the performners, and subject matter, may be strong enough to overcome this...
So you think this might slip into self parody but you're good with Malick's warblings? I'm not saying anything.
I love von Trier's style, and have championed most of his movies, so this may be another film where we will need to have a full and frank discussion.
