Happy Birthday to
Rachel Weisz
41 today
In spite of her Oscar win five years ago Rachel has yet to live up to the promises of her career post Constant Gardener, all that may be about to change with Terence Malick and David Hare collaborations in the pipeline. I'm looking forward to three of her upcoming projects in particular: adult haunted house fable Dream House, the expose on sex between classes 360 and she's the latest lady to be attached to the transgender drama The Danish Girl.

I guessed you have not seen The Brothers Bloom, Agora or heard of the great reviews that her other film "The Whistleblower" is getting.
What a spiteful post.
Ben,
I must admt I have not seen any of her films since "Gardener", which means that either I am way out of the loop, or that her films have not been well-pulicized, or that her recent work has not interested me.
I am in the minority in believing that her appearance in "Gardener" was competent but not remarkable...
(In your defense, I don't think anyone who comments on blogs should remain anonymous...we ought to have some courage behind our opinions...)
Cheers!
Anonymous,
Please accept my apologies for seeming to be spiteful. I very much enjoy Weisz's performances, including the triple role in The Fountain.
Whilst I did not see either of the two other examples you mentioned I did select both of them as films of the week when they came out in the UK, however as Tom says the box office performance was poor in both cases a combined US take of just over $4m, barely 15% of The Constant Gardener.
However thank you for puuting me on to The Whistleblower. I look forward to hearing more in the future.
Thanks for sticking up for me Tom. x
