Sondra's acting career will always be overshawdowed by her personal life, especially the tumultous and doomed relationship with Clint Eastwood. They starred together in many films including the box office smashes of Every Which Way but Loose and the Dirty Harry sequel Sudden Impact, and their split was also on screens with every lurid detail played in full in the press. Sadly Sondra hasn't ventured near a movie screen in over 10 years.

Ben it is a shame her career never fulfilled its promise. She was so marvelous and heartbreaking in the 1968 "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter". Both she and Alan Arkin earned Oscar nominations for this film. Have you seen it? It is hard to find, but really well-done.

Thank you for bringing this error to my attention, I use IMDb for all the birthdays here, and as you can see this post was written before mid 2011 hence the mistake. I have now corrected it.
I just finished reading The Good, the Bad, and the Very Ugly. It was surprisingly good, and I thought it was very well written. The story of her relationship with Eastwood is, of course, only half the story but his legal behavior alone makes me believe she was treated badly and unfairly. It's also so sad that her career was derailed, but who knows? Maybe if she hadn't met Eastwood she would have lived a sad life, and I don't get the impression that she has. Her relationship with Gordon is both fascinating and touching. Her decision (which really wasn't a decision) to become financially dependent on Eastwood could be seen as bad judgment on her part and the cause of all her troubles. But she was from a small town, 14 yrs younger than Clint, clearly attracted to him and probably in love with him, so who can blame her. I hope she's happy in life now, and no longer bitter about her life with, and legal troubles with, Eastwood.
I think that's all we can hope for. But on the other hand I'm still bitter about the first boyfriend, who dumped me by e-mail, so who am I to give advice.

We live in the neighborhood where he grew up in Shelbyville, Tennessee on Belmont Avenue, and are working on preserving the Historic Belmont District. His childhood home is in our district and we would love to get a letter of support, and a few childhood memories from him if at all possible.
