I've just had a little episode preparing to celebrate Giancarlo's birthday when I nearly downloaded the picture from the last time we went there. Back to the reason we're here though... The Oscar nominated Italian has a fascinating back catalgue in many fields of film production, including as an actor, director and writer - he's also noted for his multi-lingual performances. Nothing coming up that's really jumping out at me though.

Aside from the fascinating "Seven Beauties" I have not followed his career....But what a film that was! I was extremely mixed about it, but saw it 4-5 times in its initial release anyway...I felt like I needed to wrestle with it. And Giannini had the most romantic, penetrating eyes!!!
You advised me to watch that last time I mentioned him as well. Really must follow your advice, if only to check out those eyes.
WRT his later career it's been mainly Italy bound but he occasionally turns up in international blockbusters, like the last Bond pic Quantum of Solace.
