You would hope that the first week of the year would set you up for an idea of how the year will go, you'd hope for an exciting mix of indie and mainstream productions with lauded performances and edgy direction. Sorry, the film of the week is Did You Hear about the Morgans. And that's the best of the bunch. I'm staying at home this weekend.
Did You Hear about the Morgans
Hugh Grant and Sarah Jessica Parker are the Morgans. They see a mob hit (I think) and go into the witness protection scheme off in middle-of-nowhere Americana. It bombed in the U.S. and all the best jokes are probably in the trailer, but Sam Elliott and Mary Steenburgen look like they're having a ball in the trailer and that should be worth sneaking in for.

Writer/director Gerardo Naranjo continues with his thematic connection of teenage angst with this tale of two sort-of slacker runaways who hide on the roof of one of their houses and observe events going on around them.
